Hot Dip Galvanizing

Hot dip Galvanizing is a process that prevents steel from corroding. Prior to any material being galvanized the steel fabrications are submerged in acid to remove all rust and mill scale to provide a chemically clean surface. Only when the surface of the material has been cleaned can hot dip galvanizing take place. The steel fabrications are 'dipped' in a molten bath of zinc that is heated to approximately 450°c

Once galvanizing has taken place the coating is metallurgically bonded to the steel substrate. Not only that, galvanizing self repairs minor damage, sacrifices itself to protect the base metal, is environmentally sustainable, has good impact and abrasion resistance and a maintenance-free life for up to 40 years or more.

Pre Galvanizing Service

Prior to any material entering the production line a pre inspection takes place to ensure suitability for galvanizing. This pre galvanizing inspection enables us to identify and notify the customer of any additional holes that may be required. We also inspect the material for excess paint or other contamination that will need to be removed to avoid post galvanizing rejects and also asses the suitability of the product for galvanizing.

The best way to avoid problems at this stage is to contact Premier Galvanizing who will be happy to advise on all issues regarding suitability for galvanizing at the design stage.

Post Galvanizing Service

After the initial galvanizing has taken place all items are passivated to help reduce the effects of wet storage stain.

Once your material has been removed from the galvanizing line the items will be inspected and passed for despatch by our dedicated inspection team.

All items can be packed, bundled and labelled to customer’s requirement. Certificates of conformity can be issued upon request and all inspections are carried out in accordance with BS EN ISO 1461:2009.

Storage and Distribution
